A football scheme is celebrating a decade of helping students launch their football coaching careers,

The Football1st Coaching Courses, which are held at Redbridge College, develop youngsters playing ability while honing the student’s coaching skills.

Andrew Russell, of the college in Barley Lane, Little Heath, said: “Nothing can beat the feeling of coaching players as young as six years of age and, with your support and guidance, watching them grow into talented players.”

The sessions, held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings, have helped former graduate of the college, Adrian Summerfield, 25, to create his own local football teams.

He said: “I see the most important thing about coaching is being to make sure that everyone learns something new, regardless of ability, and most of all has fun.”

For more information about the coaching sessions contact Anna Russell on 07834 386 814.
