A synagogue in Newbury Park will stage Saint Francis Hospice’s annual Light up a Life church service on Saturday.

The service at 10.30am at the South West Essex & Settlement Reform Synagogue, Oaks Park, Newbury Park, aims to give families and individuals the opportunity to celebrate, reflect and remember their loved ones.

It is the first of five Light up a Life services where people are encouraged to make a dedication, which will be included in a Book of Remembrance, and write a personal message on new memory stars that can be displayed at home and at the hospice.

All donations made with dedications will be spent by the hospice, in Havering-atte-Bower, on providing specialist care to local people affected by cancer or other life-limiting illness.

Further services will take place in December 2 on the grounds of the hospice and in Barking, Brentwood and Romford.
