He will be starring in the Come Dancing Concert at the theatre on Friday at 7.30pm and on Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.

It promises to be an all singing and dancing version of the musical Come Dancing, performed at Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2008. Ray Davies’ hit show took audiences back to the Ilford Palais in the 1950s when Saturday night dancing was the magical, not-to-be-missed highlight of every young person’s week. The concert version will retell the story of a young girl’s short, brilliant, beautiful life and the twelve months that turned her life upside down.

Ray Davies will star as the Storyteller and the cast will also feature: Bradley Clarkson, Marcus Ellard, Tony Timberlake, Alasdair Harvey, Katherine James, Stephen Lloyd and Katey Munroe. It is directed by Kerry Michael with musical direction by Robert Hyman.

The live band will include Kevin Oliver Jones on keyboard, saxophone, guitar and harmonica and Glyn Evans on Bass.Kerry Michael, artistic director, said: “We are delighted that Ray Davies is joining us for the Come Dancing concert, this is an opportunity for his faithful fans and our audiences to once again enjoy his superb talent live on the theatre’s stage.”

Come Dancing is the second of three popular Musical Theatre Concerts which are part of Open Stage 2012, a season of shows programmed in response to what audiences have asked to see at the theatre. The Big Life was the first of the three concerts and proved, once again to be a box office hit. Come Dancing will be followed by the final concert, The Harder They Come at the end of June.

Tickets are priced £15 & £10 concessions.
