The man, in his 20s, suffered a suspected head injury in the crash, which happened in Eastern Avenue, close to its junction with Ley Street, Newbury Park.

The London Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, a motorcycle responder, a duty officer and a London Air Ambulance team in a car to the scene.

The injured man was taken to the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel after the accident at about 7.30am.

Two of the three lanes on Eastern Avenue were blocked after the accident as police and paramedics dealt with it, with queues back to the road’s junction with Brook Road.

The accident scene was cleared at around 9am.
