Fin Robinson, who has run the Goodmayes Sports and Social Club for 23 years, was supposed to hand the keys back to Goodmayes Hospital today but said he will remain locked inside “until they do the right thing”.

The club closed a month ago but Mr Robinson, who is a qualified nurse and social worker, was given up until today to clear the place out.

“I have secured the building from the inside,” he said. “There are so many people being affected.”

North East London Foundation Trust, who it is understood made the decision over the closure, have not yet responded to the Recorder’s request for comment.
