Man charged with assault after Newbury Park metal pole attack

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of beating a man with a metal pole.

The man, from Islington, was charged with common assault on March 9.

The alleged assault took place outside Sports Direct in King George Avenue, Newbury Park.

The victim is a man in his 30s. He is said to have suffered severe bruising.

The accused is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court, at a date to be confirmed.
