Councillors proved it’s never too late to have fun on a see-saw while trying out a new play area in Barkingside.
The Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Felicity Banks, tried out toys at the official opening of the park in Barkingside Recreation Ground.
Tired climbing frames and swings that had been in place for decades have been replaced with a £25,000 improvement project.
A spokesman for Vision Redbridge, which runs the borough’s parks, said the equipment aims to include children of different abilities.
It can be used by toddlers all the way up to teenagers to promote physical activity.
Brian Spinks, chairman of the parks and open spaces sub-committee, said: “Vision RCL is committed to developing partnerships and facilities within our parks and open spaces.”
The funding was given by the SITA Trust. The park, in Mossford Green, was renamed the Queen Elizabeth II Field following the Diamond Jubilee.
