Team GB won its first gold medals of the Olympics on day five of the competition.

Heather Stanning and Helen Glover won the first gold of the day in the women’s rowing pairs, while Bradley Wiggins took the top spot in the men’s cycling time trial later in the day.

Team mate Chris Froome picked up a bronze in the same event as Wiggins, while swimmer Michael Jamieson won a silver for Team GB in the men’s 200m breaststroke and the men’s rowing eight won bronze in their event.

Great Britain’s men’s football team beat Uruguay 1-0 to get into the quarter finals of the football tournament and Anthony Joshua won his fight in the men’s super-heavyweight boxing division, and is through to the next round.
