A London 2012 games maker captivated more than 45 people with tales of her time volunteering at the Olympics two years ago.
Lesley Tipler, a former Ilford County High pupil, gave an “absolutely brilliant” presentation to an audience at St Peter’s Church hall, Aldborough Road North, detailing how she was selected to become a games maker and her experiences.
Yvonne Jeffries, chairman of fundraising at the church, said: “It was a really interesting afternoon.
“I could have listened to [Ms Tipler] for another hour.”
Mrs Jeffries revealed the raffle, which followed the talk, raised £255 for “day to day” expenses of the church.
She added: “There is always something that needs doing like any large grounds.”
