A former Redbridge schoolgirl is coming to a Newbury Park church to talk about how she was inspired to become a London 2012 Games Maker.
Lesley Tipler, 57, a former Ilford County High pupil, was in charge of all the Games Makers at the Paralympics.
She said the games felt as though they were “coming home to her” and that the worldwide event was part of her heritage.
The retired school headteacher’s talk at St Peter’s Church hall, Aldborough Road North, is in February.
The presentation includes a story about how she organised a couple’s marriage proposal in front of 10,000 people at the London 2012 hockey stadium at half-time of a match.
Ms Tipler said: “The couple of presentations I have done have been great. You get quite a buzz from it all.”
