Hosted by Ramfel (the Refugee and Migrant Forum of East London) and the Redbridge Rainbow Community, the event saw four candidates take part in a debate at the Redbridge Council of Voluntary Services, in Forest House, Clements Road, Ilford.

They were Cllr Ian Bond, leader of the Liberal Democrats and deputy leader of Redbridge Council, Conservative Cllr Paul Canal, Cllr Wes Streeting, Labour’s deputy leader, and Green Party candidate John Tyne, who is standing in Chadwell ward.

Each candidate spoke for a maximum of 10 minutes on their own political backgrounds and the manifestos of their parties, before the floor was opened up for questions.

Ukip declined to send a representative and Cllr Filly Maravala, representing the Independent Loxford group, declined due to illness.

Keep an eye on the website for a full report on the hustings.
