Dr Frank Middlemiss, who lived for more than 50 years in Empress Avenue, Woodford Green, died last week at the age of 93.
Frank was born in 1920 in Leytton, but moved to the area from Hornsey where he met what was to be a life long friend Cllr Richard Hoskins (Liberal Democrat, Church End), who described him as an “amazing gentleman”.
Cllr Hoskins said: “He will be sadly missed by everyone as he was a very well respected man.
“[He was] someone who was always very precise and careful with what he said.”
Dr Middlemiss was a member for 20 years of the Action for Church End residents’ association as well as its chairman for many years.
Frank’s wife died in 2010.
