The 108-year-old Epping Forest Scottish Association held a Valentine’s Dance at Woodford Green Preparatory School, Glengall Road, Woodford Green, for its members and visitors.

The group, including those dressed in kilts, worked through a programme of about 20 set dances with different names including Swiss Lassie and Highland Rambler with backing from The Silver Cross Band.

With regular Monday meetings at the school, members practice three types of dances - the faster jigs and reels and the slower strathspeys.

One member, Alan Talbot, 65, of Buckhurst Hill, said: “One of the difficult dances is the Rob Roy as everyone is doing something different at the same time.

“That went well so that was the highlight.”

The association formed in 1903, holds whist groups, church services and organises local trips, including a rambling weekend in April.

The next dance is on March 10 with the Phill Jones Scottish Dance Band.
