The Get Ahead Of The Games website, part of a national campaign to get people prepared for the sporting tournament in Stratford, east London, is offering advice on how to cope with the travel demand.

Ilford’s roads will be busy, according to the website, because of its location between the Olympic Park and the Lee Valley White Water Centre in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, where canoeing events will take place.

The junction between the A118 Romford Road and the A406 North Circular is likely to be affected and the Olympic Route Network will be in operation on the A12 and the A406 North Circular at various times.

The borough’s Tube stations will be busier between 7.30am and 9.30am and 4pm and 7.30pm.

People regularly using Stratford station are told to expect three peak times – in the morning, late afternoon and late evening – and a one-way system will operate.

The website says visitors should expect their regular walking routes between lines to change during the Games.

The website is a joint initiative between the government, the Mayor of London, the Games’ organisers and UK transport networks.
