Amarvir Chatha of Ilford was invited for tea after the Labour leader heard of his illness and was impressed by the courage Amarvir has shown throughout his treatment.

The youngster said: “It was amazing to look round Parliament and see the politicians in action. Mr Miliband was very nice and asked me lots of questions. I can’t wait to tell my friends about today.”

Amavir, who attends St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School, Benton Road, Seven Kings, was accompanied by his mum Nikki, dad Jag and six-year-old brother Karamvir.

He presented Mr Miliband with a heart shaped Union Flag badge from Cancer Research UK after seeing him in action during Prime Minister’s Questions.

Nikki said: “It was fascinating to watch the party leaders debating before our meeting. We talked about Amarvir’s experiences of treatment and how he’s doing at school.

“We’re delighted that Amarvir is making such good progress, he has been incredibly brave.”
