Alpa Shah, 45, of Bronte Close, Gants Hill, said her daughter had just finished a GCSE exam and was at the crossing outside the school at about 2.25pm on May 14.

She says the traffic lights had turned red and her daughter walked across the High Road in Woodford Green, when the white van hit her, throwing her two metres into the air.

Mrs Shah said: “Her back was hurt from the impact and so she has to have physiotherapy. The doctors keep giving her painkillers.”

Mrs Shah needs to find out the registration of the van so that she can get the costs of her daughter’s treatment paid.

The driver did get out of the van and is described as being white, in his 30s and bald but then drove off.
