One man who learnt about a charity’s work through his mum has completed the Singapore Marathon to raise vital funds for it.
Justin Tan, son of Eileen who works as an admiral nurse for North East London NHS Foundation Trust, Barley Lane, Little Heath, managed to raise £1,651 for Dementia UK after completing the gruelling challenge.
The 29-year-old former Ilford County High School, Fremantle Road, Barkingside pupil, said: “I have chosen to raise money for Dementia UK because of what I have learned about dementia from my mother, who has been working with the charity for over eight years.
“Throughout that time she has told me innumerable stories of the amazing work she and Dementia UK do in the community, supporting both carers and patients and making a real difference in their lives.
Mr Tan completed the challenge on December 2.
