The River Roding was put on flood alert yesterday (Sunday) evening following heavy rain.
The river, which flows through Ilford, Wanstead and Woodford Green, is on the first warning level.
Redbridge Council advises residents to make a flood plan and prepare to act on it, collect equipment and monitor water levels on the Environment Agency website.
If you see flooding in your area, you can email pictures to the council at emergencyplanning@redbridge.gov.uk to help them track changes.
A council spokesman said officers are monitoring the water levels and are in close contact with the Environment Agency.
