The flood alert for the Redbridge stretch of the River Roding has been lifted.
The Environment Agency placed an alert on the Lower River Roding – which includes sections flowing through Woodford, Wanstead and Ilford – on Friday as heavy rain approached.
The warning was lifted yesterday morning.
In 2000, the River Roding burst its banks, forcing evacuations across the borough,
The Environment Agency is planning to spend £3million which could see two pumping stations and a flood storage area created to alleviate the problem of surface water entering the Roding.
