More than 200 people visited Newbridge School in Gresham Drive to watch Irish and Sikh dancers and listen to a bagpipe player.

Harvey Sharpe, 64, who organised the event, said: “I’ve had lots of feedback and everyone said it was fantastic. I just want people to help raise the profile of the school. We had enough food for 175 people and at the end all the food had gone.”

Students from Redbridge College, Barley Lane, Little Heath, made the food and sent four students along to help serve it.

The event, held of Saturday, involved lots of dancing and the Mayor of Redbridge Cllr Muhammed Javed even had a go at playing the bagpipes.

Mr Sharpe said: “It’s great to look back on the event and see we are one community regardless of all that problems going on in the world, people of all cultures got together and we holding hands and dancing.”
