Ilford student Navdeep Bual has spoken to the Recorder about the highs and lows of her experience on BBC One reality show Young Apprentice in her first interview since being fired.

Navdeep, 16, made it to week six of the programme, when she was fired by Lord Alan Sugar after losing a challenge to create a hair product.

The decision came as a shock to many viewers but Navdeep said she was “content” to get so far.

She said: “I would’ve liked to get into the semis.

“They are this week so it was so close and I feel like I just lost out but I think it was a good time to go.

“The people left were worthy candidates, apart from Patrick. He was getting away with everything.”

Navdeep said the “intense” experience made the contestants competitive.

She added: “In the boardroom you forget all morals you have and it’s easy to forget that a few hours before you were all having breakfast together.

“You have to say whatever you need to survive.”

Navdeep, of Glebelands Avenue, is now settling back into normal life studying for her AS-Levels at Seven Kings High School in Ley Street, Ilford.

The former head girl hopes to study medicine and work for the United Nations.

She said: “I can go into the World Health Organization and work my way up, maybe to general secretary, we’ll see.

“I just want to make sure the opportunities I have don’t go to waste.”
