A Britain’s Got Talent finalist has described how he is heart broken by the death of his friend, after he was involved in a car accident on Easter Sunday.
Andreas Elias, 21 of South Woodford, who went to Wanstead High School, in Redbridge Lane West, Wanstead, died at the junction of Woodford Road and Dames Road in Forest Gate, Newham.
Beatboxer Ben r-tizt Francis, who made it to the 2013 finals of Britain’s Got Talent with band Luminites, described the tragic news as “heartbreaking”.
He said: “I pray every night and I will pray so hard that he is In a much better place although he will be missed so much by so many.”
The police and London Ambulance Services arrived at the scene shortly before 2am on Easter Sunday, and paramedics attended to three passengers but Mr Elias was found dead at the scene.
Messages have been left on a sign post outside supermarket Zaga Super Store, in Woodford Road.
Shop owner Ali, who did not want to give his full name, immediately came down to the scene after being informed of the accident.
He said: “When I came I was shocked but I couldn’t see anything because the police had blocked everywhere off.
“It is very sad.”
Messages included a note written by Andreas’ mother, which simply said: “My son Andreas Elias died here on Easter Sunday.”
Another mentioned Andreas was due to be best man at his wedding, added: “You left us too early but the laughs we had will last forever.”
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old woman, is in a serious but stable condition in an East London hospital.
The other passenger, also a 24-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries but has since been discharged.
An appeal for witnesses has been launched and the incident is being investigated by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage.
An inquest had been opened and adjourned at Walthamstow Coroners Court.
