The Mayor of Redbridge and council workers were out on Christmas Day delivering hot lunches to elderly and housebound people in the borough.
Cllr Muhammed Javed joined Redbridge Council’s meals on wheels service to visit homes in Clementswood, Chadwell Heath and Seven Kings wards and to spend time with those who may not have had any friends or family to see on the day.
Cllr Javed said he visited around 10 homes with the meals on wheel service and made deliveries to around another five homes himself.
He said: “[You] get to see a smile on their faces.
“In some cases, I was able to have a cup of tea with them.”
