Driver in intensive care after convertible collides with double decker bus in Hainault - 10 passengers injured

A driver is in intensive care after his car collided with a double decker bus in Hainault on Monday.

The 53-year-old man was treated at the scene on Tomswood Hill for multiple injuries to his head, chest and legs and rushed to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

His condition is described as “critical but stable”.

Ten passengers on the bus received minor injuries when the London bus and black Saab convertible collided near the junction of Penhurst Road around 7pm.

A 32-year-old woman was treated for back pain and a knee injury and taken to Queen’s Hospital in Romford.

Another man was also taken to Queen’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Fire crews, three ambulances, paramedics, the London Air Ambulance and police rushed to the scene on the busy road.

The carriageway was cleared a reopened shortly after midnight.

Police are not investigating the incident.
