The cyclist killed in a crash in Woodford Green on Sunday has been named locally as Kevin Lane.
Colleagues at Go-ahead, a bus depot company, said the 52-year-old worked as a CCTV operator and lived in Rainham.
Mr Lane worked at the branch in Northumberland Park and a colleague described him as “a very nice man and a keen cyclist”.
He died after a collision with a car in High Road at the junction with Bunces Lane at around 1.30pm.
He was attended to by London Ambulance Service before going into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A candlelight vigil took place outside Redbridge Town Hall yesterday evening in his memory, where residents called for the council to impose a borough-wide 20mph speed limit.
Formal identification by the police has not yet taken place.
The woman who drove the car stopped and was not arrested.
Police officers from the road death investigation unit are investigating.
Any witnesses should call police on 101.
