Comedian Eddie Izzard will be out and about in Barkingside tomorrow.
He is joining Labour Party MPs and councillors on the campaign trail as election season kicks off.
Mr Izzard, who is known for his stand-up comedy and has also acted in several films, is an outspoken supporter of the party and a possible London mayoral candidate.
He will be meeting residents with Ilford South MP Mike Gapes, Ilford North candidate Cllr Wes Streeting, Sadiq Khan MP and local politicians.
The group will be in the High Street between 11am and noon.
Cllr Streeting said he was “delighted” to have Mr Izzard’s support.
“After 12 years of the Tories, it’s time for change and we’re running a positive campaign with policies that will make a real difference to the lives of Redbridge residents,” he added.
“Having Eddie Izzard along will hopefully be a fun way of making a serious point: these elections will make a real difference and it’s important to turn out and vote.”
They will be campaigning for next month’s Redbridge Council elections as well as the European elections on the same day - May 22.
Cllr Keith Prince, the Conservative leader of the council, was not impressed by the celebrity appearance.
He said: “He’s a joker, isn’t he? That sums it up really.
“Labour have brought out a comedian because their whole campaign is a joke.”
