A coach carrying more than 40 Year 10 students – aged 14 and 15 – from Oaks Park High School, Oaks Lane, Newbury Park, collided with a car on the A11 close to Thetford in Norfolk, as the pupils made their way back from a field trip in Norfolk this afternoon.

According to Oaks Park headteacher Steve Wilks in a message posted on the school’s website, some of the passengers in the car were seriously injured,

The students, including the five injured who have been discharged from hospital, are on their way home.

Mr Wilks said: “I would like to thank the staff and the two sixth formers accompanying them for the very professional way in which they dealt with the situation.”
