A children’s author opened the newly renovated library at a Goodmayes school on Tuesday.
Edward Trayer, known as Billy Bob Buttons, read excerpts of his books to pupils at Goodmayes Primary School, in Airthrie Road.
He also did writing workshops with budding authors passing on tips about creating interesting characters and exciting storylines.
Mr Trayer has written seven books for children and teenagers so far, which include tales wizards, Icelandic legends and war.
The library has been renovated and re-stocked with hundreds of new books.
Money was raised for the project in the summer term with a school fun run and performances and concerts put on by pupils.
Assistant headteacher Samina Jaffar said: “The library has been a work in progress for about a year so we wanted to do something special.
“The children were very excited because reading is a big focus in our school.”
