Provisions to keep Redbridge roads running during cold weather were agreed by the cabinet.
The 2012/13 Winter Service Plan sets out how the borough will spread salt on roads and clear snow during extreme weather.
The council will be able to call on 1,800 tonnes of salt from three stores in Chigwell Road, Woodford Bridge; Station Road, Barkingside, and a shared stores in Dagenham.
Gritting vehicles follow primary routes (major roads which aren’t the responsibility of Transport for London and bus routes) and secondary routes (minor roads).
A number of roads in Cranbrook, Hainault and Valentines wards will be added to the gritting routes this winter.
The council used 616 tonnes of salt last winter, with 1229 in stock.

- Changes have been made to the financial security arrangements in place for a planned £2million soccer centre development in Ashton playing fields, Woodford Bridge. In lieu of a bond, finances will be held in an shared account between Redbridge Council and the management company, Elite Soccer Centres Holdings Limited. The company will also receive a £1.075m loan from Santander Bank.
- The council has published its private sector housing enforcement policy to tackle landlords who risk the health and safety of tenants. In 2011, 132 statutory notices forcing landlords to make improvements were issued.
- A Resident Housing Panel will be set up to increase public engagement.
