A taskforce of cleaners and Redbridge Council officers could be taking to the streets of Redbridge to spruce them up in spring.
As part of the Big Clean, the squad of staff would pick up litter from verges, pavements and alleyways in Ilford, Clayhall and Barkingside.
Graffiti would be scrubbed off and benches and furniture will be cleaned.
Portable CCTV cameras could also be put in the worst-affected areas to catch future fly tippers.
Cllr Shoaib Patel, cabinet member for the environment, said areas where residents made the most complaints were being targeted.
He added: “By bringing together a team of cleansing, streetscene and enforcement staff and focusing on areas with particular problems, we can make a real difference to the local environment.
“We also get the chance to speak to residents about local cleansing issues and give advice on waste and recycling collections.”
The Environment Service Committee are due to consider Cllr Patel’s proposals tomorrow, followed by a cabinet decision later this month.
