British Cycling, which is home to the GB cycling team, is organising rides with free cycle security marking in Barking and Dagenham this summer.

The governing body unveiled the “Sky Rides” after Wiggins became the first Briton to win the Tour de France last month and Chris Hoy the most successful British Olympian of all time, with a haul of seven medals including six golds.

British Cycling recreation manager Rob McLean said: “These free, organised rides are the perfect way for family and friends to get out and explore the local scenery from a two-wheel perspective. In this amazing year of cycling, there’s really no better time to get out on a bike.”

Experienced cyclists trained by British Cycling lead the rides. For more information, log on to goskyride.com/lbbd.
