Athletes from around the world are getting ready to bid for gold at the men’s road race this morning, with many having trained at Redbridge Cycling Centre in the last few days.
Competitors from countries including South Korea, Algeria, Syria, El Savador, China and Iran have all be using the modern facilities at the cycling centre in Forest Road, Hainault to get ready for what is likely to be the most important race of their lives.
The cycling centre is a training venue for the Olympic Games and was built in August 2008.
It replaced the Eastway Cycle Circuit, which has been turned into the Velopark, the venue in which the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held.
The men’s road race begins at 10am today and starts and finishes in The Mall.
