Burglars got into the house in Ingatestone Road through an unlocked rear window between 2pm and 7pm.

Redbridge Police advise residents to mark their valuables, fit window locks and remember to secure all external doors and windows when going out.

A spokesman said: “Opportunist burglars will be attracted by valuables, so keep yours out of sight.”

Ilford CID are appealing for anyone with information on the burglary or the location of the jewellery to contact DS Palmer on 020 8345 2715.
