Relaxing and sleeping was top of the agenda for most of the students at Trinity Catholic High School after the anxiety of getting their A-level results.

The gates opened at 8am at the school in Mornington Road, Woodford Green with the majority of the nervous students picking up their results within the hour.

In the playground two brothers were huddled together as they phoned their parents one to say he had got into Cambridge with four As and his younger brother who got four As for AS-level.

Basin Ali, 18, of Stratford, who is going to study medicine, said: “I didn’t sleep for two days, I feel like I feel like I need a break.”

Brendon Antwi, 18, who got two Bs and a C, is going to study accounting and economics in Hertfordshire.

“Studying was hard but it all paid off in the end. It does worry me about getting a job afterwards but not too much,” he said. “It’s really hard with the fees which almost changed my decision about going to university. I’m just going to relax.”

About 99 percent of the 216 students passed with between 93-94 percent going on to university.
