Alannah Gold confirmed her place at the London College of Fashion to do a one-year course in retail management.

She hopes to go into merchandising.

She said: “It’s still £9,000 but I’ll be living at home so it will be cheaper.

“Fashion is what I’ve always wanted to do, I’d love to be in the head office of M&S one day.”

Star student Samuel Rabinovitz was celebrating getting five A-levels in physics, Hebrew, maths, economics and Spanish.

He will go on to study physics at the University of Leeds. “I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

Deputy head of sixth form Louise Davis said it was a “brilliant” day for the school.

She added: “Most of the students are into their first choice universities. They did better than we ever expected.

“Universities seem to have inflated their grades and are letting the students in with lower grades than their offer.

“Some students did A-levels but chose to do apprenticeships.”

She estimated that 95 per cent of A-level students at the school in Forest Road, Barkingside, will go on to further education.
