Flying over from Ahmadabad, the 16 Indians took part in ‘Ekatva’, an innovative new project run in partnership with Community Links, a charity based in Canning Town.

Meaning ‘oneness’, Ekatva aimed to deeply transform the lives of the children to give them a better future, connect young people internationally through the creative arts and inspire a younger generation.

The Ekatva children devised and performed a dance and drama production on themes such as love, unity, and peace inspired by global role models such as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King to appeal to an international audience.

After the 90 minute performance, young people from Education Links, one of Community Links’ many projects, joined in a team building exercise using the many unusual sports activities available at the charity’s activity centre Outdoors in the City, in Freemasons Road.

The Ekatva group will now take their show on to Leicester, Birmingham, and elsewhere in London.
