Newham communities urged to cash in on aid

Community groups in Newham are being urged to bid for ‘Portas Pilot’ funding to breathe life into their local high streets.

An existing £1.2 million government scheme has been announced. Now London Mayor Boris Johnson has revealed an additional £300,000 funding to help increase jobs and growth in three schemes across London.

The winners will b the best ideas which most transform town centres affected by the economic downturn.

The closing date for entries is the June 30 2012.
