New Christmas lights for Woodford Green residents
17:27 01 December 2016
For the first time ever, residents on both sides of the tracks at Woodford Station will see Christmas lights switched on this year.
Snakes Lane East in Woodford Green will be lit with festive cheer after Redbridge Council confirmed it will be festooned with lights from December 5 this year.
Traditionally, lights have only been installed on Snakes Lane West but following requests from residents, lights will brighten the sky on both sides of the tracks.
Ilford North MP Wes Streeting said he was delighted by the news.
He said: “I’m really pleased that Redbridge council have agreed to install Christmas lights on both sides of the track in Woodford.
“Many residents have felt that the Snakes Lane East side of Woodford station has had less attention, so I’m delighted that the council has stepped up enforcement action against antisocial behaviour in the area and are now added Christmas lights for some Christmas cheer.
“Christmas is a great time for local people to come together and spend time with their family, friends and neighbours. I hope that these new lights will help to add to the festive spirit at this time of the year.”
There will also be a Christmas tree in Woodford Bridge.
