A group of young volunteers will be collecting stories from migrants on Saturday (10) in Ilford High Street to encourage “a better understanding” on the subject of immigration.
The Team V Redbridge group’s campaign - Routes to Roots - celebrates people who migrate across the globe and throughout this country to create new lives for themselves and their families.
Volunteers, collecting the stories, are from a national network of youth workers, aged between 18 and 25, run by charity vInspired.
Rebecca Kemal, Team V leader for Redbridge, said: “People forget that there are stories and people that make up the numbers behind the facts and figures.
“Individuals who contribute to our community and who become our friends and family.
“We want to give the residents of Redbridge a chance to tell their stories, to make it personal and to be the heart of our campaign.”
Team V Redbridge will be running a stall on Saturday May 10 between 10am and 4pm in Ilford High Street.
