Man dies after lorry and motorbike crash in Chadwell Heath this morning
10:12 25 June 2014
A motorcyclist has died this morning after colliding with a skip lorry in Whalebone Lane North, Chadwell Heath.
The moped rider, reported to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9am, though next of kin have yet to be informed.
The road was closed to traffic for just over four hours, reopening again at about 12.45am, between the Moby Dick Roundabout and the High Road while police officers investigated the crash scene.
London’s Air Ambulance attended, landing on a nearby golf course, alongside paramedics on the ground.
The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.
Nearby resident Irshad Ikah, 65, who did not see the incident, said the news of the motorcyclist’s death was “very sad”.
He said: “It’s a very dangerous road this one. There’s too much fast traffic, they need to do something to improve safety.”
This is the second road traffic incident along the arterial road in two weeks. On June 10, a 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a head injury after he was hit by a lorry at the junction of Whalebone Lane North and Mill Lane.
