A woman was robbed at knifepoint while sitting in traffic at Gants Hill Roundabout.

A man in his 20s, forced his way into the woman’s vehicle in Woodford Avenue at around 7.44pm on Sunday, March 4.

A Met spokeswoman said police received numerous calls about a man attempting to break into vehicles with a knife, before the incident.

“We then received a call stating the male had gone on to take a vehicle in a knifepoint robbery,” she told the Recorder.

“East Area units were deployed immediately.”

In a transcript of the 999 call, one witness said the man stole the victim’s grey car.

“A male has opened her car door, got a knife out and told her to get out,” he told the emergency operator.
