Labour regained their grip on Mayfield ward after all three of the party’s candidates were re-elected.

Cllr Jas Athwal, the leader of the Redbridge Labour group, secured the most votes with 2,731 while Cllr Kay Flint (2,620) and Cllr Ayodhiya Parkash (2,597) were also re-elected.

Before the Mayfield result, the turnout was revealed to those present in Redbridge Town Hall, High Road, Ilford.

During the 13 hours of voting, 39.7 per cent (84,112) of the borough took to the polls - a steep drop on the 2010 local elections when 61.9 per cent of the electorate registered their vote.
