The Mayor of Redbridge has said he was “disappointed” by how the entry into the New Years Day parade was received by judges.
The float, themed around Cllr Muhammed Javed’s slogan for the year Giving Time to Others did not make the top ten.
He said that despite the float being well received by the public, he believe judges failed to understand the message.
“I thought we would have come in the first 10,” he said. “Everyone thought it was a good idea, if they could see what a brilliant idea it was, the judges should have seen it. I think ours was unique, they missed the point.”
The float had between 20-30 volunteers as well as Cllr Javed accompanying it through the streets of London.
“I thank every one of them for walking the three and a half hours with me, it shows the dedication they have to the cause of giving time to others,” he added.
