Police were called to the property at Seeta House, Ilford, on February 3 after the estate agent in charge of the property claimed he could smell traces of cannabis and suspected the building was being used to grow the Class B drug.

Police seized four medium-sized cannabis plants, lighting and other equipment needed to grow the plant.

When questioned by police, the man claimed he purchased the cannabis seeds over the internet and that he did not realise it is an offence to produce the drug.

The man was cautioned after he told officers that he uses the cannabis daily for medicinal purposes as he believes the drug will cure him of cancer.
