A string of offences in Ilford, including the theft of 15 boxes of washing powder, a suit jacket and some garden tools, have landed a 30-year-old man a £165 bill and a suspended prison sentence.
On February 17, Sajid Makwana, of Balfour Road, Ilford, received a two month prison sentence to be suspended for 12 months at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court for the theft of 15 boxes of Persil valued at £54.
He pleaded guilty to the theft, which occurred at Marks and Spencer, High Road, on January 26, and for breaching his conditional discharge for offences he was convicted for on October 4.
The magistrates’ considered his previous thefts from Wilkinson, Balfour Road, on August 5 and August 12, and at Bodgers, Cranbrook Road, on October 3, and ordered Makwana to attend drug rehabilitation as a non-resident patient for six months.
He must pay an £80 victim surcharge and £85 to the CPS.
