Reggae, roots and ska was the soundtrack to Saturday’s Stomp Out Cancer event, at The Guildhall in High Road, Ilford, which has raised almost £1,000 for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund so far.

The event hosted performances from headline band The Talks - who have collaborated with ska legends The Specials - along with 13-year-old regional talent show finalist Josh Gleaves.

Ice buckets were at the ready too as people at the event took on nominations and prompted donations as they dumped ice-cold water over themselves.

Event organiser Pete Lacey, 51, of Hornchurch, said: “It went really well and there was some really cold bodies out there after taking on the ice bucket challenge.”

He added: “We have sown the seeds for next year’s event.”

Organisers, who are still counting the money made on Saturday, are urging people to continue donating to the cause.
