Suhel Miah's son managed to escape an attempted abduction last week.

An 11-year-old boy who went through a terrifying abduction bid has given his Xbox game console to the 12-year-old boy who shouted at the three men to leave him alone.

Imran Miah told the Recorder this week: “He’s my friend now.

“He shouted at the men when they were telling me to get into the car, and they drove off.

“When I had a bad dream about them coming back, he was still there shouting at them.”

Imran and his dad Suhel visited the 12-year-old’s house last Friday to thank him.

Suhel said: “We wanted to say thank you, and let his family know what he had done.

“I told his dad how thankful we are that he helped us.

“I told him what he did was very brave.

“Imran gave him his Xbox to say thank you.”

The family say they are “overwhelmed” by the support from neighbours, friends and family.

Mum Shabana said: “We have had so much support.

“Everybody has been telling us how shocked they are.

“We have never heard about anything like this happening here.

“We don’t want to scare people, but people need to know that it could happen to anyone.”

“Parents need to be made more aware of what is going on, on their doorstep.

“I don’t think stranger danger is highlighted as much as it used to be.”

Now Shabana says she can’t relax when Imran is out with his friends.

She said: “When he goes off to play football with his friends in the field, I’m there at the window watching them.”

“Children need to know that if someone approaches you, they should shout for help

“But even if you tell your child about stranger danger, someone could still grab them.

Redbridge police say that a police intelligence report was made following the incident, and enquiries continue to trace the car and the men involved.
