Visitors to a Wanstead church raised money for the Haven House Children’s Hospice on Sunday while also enjoying “rejuvenating” therapies.

The Angels, Gifts and Healing event in the Christ Church, Wanstead Place, included a raffle for the hospice in High Road, Woodford Green, with prizes such as tickets to the forthcoming Cinderella pantomime at Ilford’s Kenneth More Theatre.

Organiser Anita Moses also offered a facial massage therapy called Rejuvanessence which she has previously provided to parents at the hospice, which helps children with life-limiting conditions.

A variety of stands sold arts and crafts, books and gifts and offered massage and reflexology therapies.

Co-organiser Heather Andrews-Dobbs said: “There was a real mix of cultures in the different stands. What was really wonderful was how some people set up their stands and everybody went home rejuvenated.”

Students from East Ham’s Deborah Day Theatre School, who regularly perform in the West End, took to a stage to sing show tunes and self-penned numbers.

Other raffle prizes on offer included a hair wash and blow-dry, dry cleaning, a car service and restaurant vouchers.

Mike Palfreman, Haven House’s chief executive, said: “We are most grateful to the organisers of this fair for thinking of Haven House.”
