A Hainault teenager has got to the finals of a primetime television talent contest despite his dance troupe losing a member to injury.
Mike McNeish, who is part of Boyband – a five-piece dubbed the One Direction of dance – will be on screens on Friday night for the final of Sky1’s Got To Dance after impressing judge Ashley Banjo in last night’s semi-final.
And tonight’s semi-final will decide who will be joining them in the chance to win £250,000 in the live final, along with contemporary theatre dancers Dance Illusion and classical ballet dancers Bitter Harvest who have also already qualified.
Just days before Boyband’s performance, one of the group’s members Corey was ruled out of the contest after injuring himself during rehearsals.
But the boys were praised for adapting their act against the clock.
Ashley, who found fame when his own dance troupe Diversity won Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, told the group: “You did not crack, you pulled it off. I’m so proud.”
And Mike, 18, admitted on the show dancing without Corey was “the hardest thing in the world.”
In tonight’s show, all six acts from judge Pussycat Dolls’ Kimberly Wyatt’s team will take to the stage.
