More than 400 people are expected at the second ever Toronto Road Festival which is set to feature dance acts and artists to help promote low carbon emissions this Saturday.

Organisers, who have helped prepare world renowned street parties such as Notting Hill Carnival and the Rio Carnival, have been on hand to make sure the event runs smoothly.

Ros Southern, 57, chair of the organisation team, said: “Last year we only invited six roads and we got about 220 people.

“This year, though, we are able to host a much higher number because we have more toilets.”

Ms Southern, of Auckland Road, Valentines Park, added: “We want to show how you can use space in different ways.

“Yes, cars go down streets but we can do different things on it, too.”

The festival, which runs from 5pm to 8pm, will host, once again, a cinema where up to 70 people can watch a film.

Ms Southern said organisers, who also run the Redbridge Green Fair, were currently “beautifying” the street and trees aligning Toronto Road.

The event, costing £2,000, has been funded by the council.

The dance acts involved are set to include Zumba, Bollywood and Samba.
